MARY CASSATT

Mary Cassatt fue una pintora y grabadora estadounidense. Aunque nació en Estados Unidos, pasó gran parte de su vida en Francia, donde se unió al movimiento impresionista. Decidió ser artista a pesar de la oposición de su familia. En sus obras encontramos sobre todo imágenes de la vida social y privada de las mujeres, con un gran protagonismo de la figura femenina. Fue siempre una feminista y apoyó activamente la lucha por el sufragio femenino.

Mary Cassatt was an American painter and printmaker. Although she was born in the United States, she spent much of her life in France, where she joined the Impressionist movement. She decided to be an artist despite her family's opposition. In her works we find above all images of the social and private life of women, with a great prominence of the female figure. She was always a feminist and actively supported the fight for women's suffrage.
